Happy SUNday to you my beautiful visitor reading this. Mama’Bear cooked up for us some Vegan Rasta Pasta Jamaican Jerk style right here in my home. Yuummyyyy!!!

I started my plant based journey in 2012 because I went to my family house here in Duluth Georgia and they were sharing with me why they went vegan and it truly inspired me. So that very same day I stopped eating meat (after hearing their story etc) and have never looked back. Stopped dead in my traps… cold turkey… I was in my early 30s around this time.

Although I’ve been eating this way since 2012 and yea, from time-to-time I’ll post what I made, but I still do research myself. I’m always googling “easy vegan meals for beginners‘ or something like along the lines. I encourage you to do the same if you’re vegan inspired and want to ease back on the meat. Google! Also, YouTube can be a great source for you too. TONS of YouTube videos where people will visually walk you step-by-step through this process. Just make YouTube your best friend.

Alrighty without further ado here we go…

Dairy FREE Plant Based Jamaican Jerk Style Veggies & Ingredients (for your Vegan Rasta Pasta)

Let’s start with veggies. I use all organic purchased from my local Farmers Market. Here’s what you’ll need and what to do.

FIRST: Begin by cooking your Penne Noodles. Boil until noodles are firm (DO NOT let the noodles get soft, just boil until firm). Once noodles are done cooking and has a firm texture then drain and put aside.

Vegan Rasta Pasta ingredients

Grab These Rasta Pasta Ingredients:

  • Olive Oil
  • Penne noodles (for family of 4 I used just 1 box)
  • Onion – 1 diced
  • Tomato – 1 diced
  • Bell Peppers – 3 cut in long strips: green, yellow, red (and or orange). Do not dice or chop. Cut these in long strips.
  • Scallion – 4 diced
  • Garlic – 5 cloves diced
  • Thyme – 5 stems
  • Parsley –
  • Basil – 1/4 cup
  • Salt & Peper (to taste)
  • Coconut Milk – 2/3 cups
  • Sea Moss – 1 hand full (or 1/4 cup)
  • Jerk Sauce – 2 to 4 table spoon (for my family of 4 I used 3 tbs)
  • Vegan Cheese – 2 bags total: 1 bag of Daiya Cheddar & 1 bag of Daiya Mozzarella (you can find the vegan cheese inside your local Publix grocery store)

Cook on Medium heat:

Put some Olive Oil inside your pot. Now you can add your onion, scallion, thyme, garlic, and begin to saute’ (until veggies get soft, not brown).

Once veggies are translucent then begin to add your bell peppers inside the pot.

Let the veggies steam for about 3 minutes. Cover this up with the pot top. Veggies can get soft.

Remove the top and now add 1/4 cup of Basil and mix. Next: add your Jerk Sauce, together, & mix very thoroughly.

Now cover this back up again and let it steam for about 2 minutes. While this is covered up and steaming to get soft take out your cans of Coconut milk and measure 2/3. Put inside the blender with 1 had full of Sea Moss.

NOTE: The Sea Moss is building a thick and creamy texture base for your Rasta Pasta. Be sure to clean your Sea Moss first. Here’s easy instruction on how to clean and prepare your Sea Moss.

Sea Moss to use for vegan rasta pasta

Remove pot top your veggies are soft now add Daiya Vegan Cheese inside the pot. On top of veggies (do not mix up yet). Add both entire bag, empty them out inside the pot.

Now pour in your Coconut Milk and Sea Moss. Mix it all up together. Make sure this is cooked on medium heat. Wait for the liquid to start boiling up a little bit and mix again so the seasonings to not stick to the bottom of the pot. This will start to get thick and creamy.

Once your creamy base starts to get thick then add your Penne Noodles and then add Parsley on top again mix.. mix.. mix!!

…and now we’re done!

Cook time: 30 minutes.

Vegan rasta pasta taste so lovely. My hubby and 2 girls loved it sooooo much they ate 3 times LOL. I cooked up a huge pot full because I planned on having this for about 3 days but oh-well! Looks like it’ll be good for 2 days. They won’t stay out the pot!!

In the future I’m going to start incorporating these easy to follow vegan recipes by doing them as ‘how-to’ videos posted on my hobby space Mama’Bear SWAG YouTube channel. I’d be sooo honored if you’ll please subscribe? Yaay!

But for now, this text here will have to do. We are in a tight space at this moment (due to transitioning out of Georgia back to Florida and unfortunately myself, hubby, and our 2 girls wasn’t able to leave the state of GA due to a horrible car accident I was recently in. So we’re stuck in GA for another year) and it’s hard to set up video equipment to record. Bare with me!! The good news is; I’m able to start walking (much better) again, getting my physical strength back literally in my back, legs, and neck. I’m still undergoing massive therapy visits daily, and hopefully I can return back-to-work (my full time job) soon.

Well that’s all friend. I must admit, this is my favorite Jamaican pasta. Are you going to give this a try? Or have you tried this before? PLEASE COMMENT BELOW!

  1. Thank you Janelle. I’m sorry about your accident. Wow. I had no idea. Also, I wanted to ask you what type of jerk sauce did you use? This looks great!

    1. Michelle, Heya girl!! Long time no hear. How’s everything? You guys still in New York? Aw.. thanks dear. I’m coming along strongly (not quite 100% just yet)… the Sauce is called Walkers Wood Hot Jerk paste.

    1. Yes Stacie. You’d be surprised how much we can literally do without dairy and or just substitute dairy products with Vegan alternatives instead.

  2. This looks so good!! While I’m not sure I’d be able to go cold turkey like you did, I actually have been toying with the idea of introducing more vegan meals into my life and perhaps at least pursuing more of a plant based diet. Thanks for the recipe!

    1. No. I always encourage folks to transition into this super slowly. Definitely not like how I did it LOL. I was just so desperate to stop eating meats and excited to discover alternatives (and now I am hooked).

  3. This beats the boring pasta dishes that I make. I love jerk anything and there is only one place near me that sells the good stuff so I am glad I can now make my own with this recipe

  4. This looks quite delicious and healthy. I always say I couldn’t leave without me but the truth is you just need great meals to substitute. Seasoning is important, I like jerk flavoring.

Sending you good vibes on your recovery. 😘

  5. Oh girl mama bear. This make me want to go vegan. so yummy. Thank you for posting the steps. I am going to make this for my family too, this weekend. Thank you!!!

    1. Yaay! OMG. it is sooo GOOD. You will love it. Please do give this a ty and let me know how yours turned out. ENJOY!
